Sobriety

When your dreams go quiet,
and the hope you once felt
ride on your skin and breathe in your bones
seems to all but disappear entirely,
to the point of almost losing its memory,
you'll wake shakily in a warm sweat,
and the breeze across your figure
will firmly sting you as you realize
that you and your growing depression
will eat at each other feverishly
until you die together, alone.
