Kerry over Bush: a two-minute explanation why

original print date, October 29 2004

                Paul Ryan

At this point, nobody wants to read a political rant, especially undecided voters. But this election is extremely important, so instead of 700 words of opinion, I'm going to give you links to facts from reputable new sources. So if you're one of those people asking for facts proving Bush has done a poor job, here they are.

Jobs and the economy

⇒ According to the government's Bureau of Labor, unemployment has risen from 4% to 6% under Bush:

YearPresident% Unemployed
1990Bush 15.6
1991Bush 16.8
1992Bush 17.5
1993Clinton6.9
1994Clinton6.1
1995Clinton5.6
1996Clinton5.4
1997Clinton4.9
1998Clinton4.5
1999Clinton4.2
2000Clinton4
2001Bush 24.7
2002Bush 25.8
2003Bush 26

⇒ As a result, the number of Americans living in poverty increased by 1.4 million last year, the third year in a row it's increased.

Kerry's plan: Tax cuts for small businesses, no more tax incentives for companies that outsource jobs, new tax incentives for companies that don't outsource jobs, payroll tax cuts for companies who hire new workers, more.

Healthcare

⇒ Healthcare prices went up 11.2% last year, the fourth year in a row prices have increased by double-digits.

Kerry's plan: Cut family healthcare rates by up to $1,000, give everyone chance to get same healthcare deal as politicians, allow prescription drugs to be bought from Canada (putting pressure on American drug companies to have competitive pricing), tax break for employers who offer healthcare to employees, more.

National security

⇒ Bush waited a month after 9/11 to invade Afghanistan. He then ignored Osama bin Laden and went after Iraq for weapons of mass destruction. Iraq had none. A few terrorists were caught by Pakistan and other countries, but the end result of the "War on Terror" so far has been this:

Kerry's plan: Get rid of nuclear material that terrorists could use from former Soviet Union and other countries (and not in 13 years, like Bush), use 9/11 Commission recommendations to improve intelligence, attract more allies and get stronger support from them (our allies dislike Bush, and have no respect for him), more.

Furthering medical research and science

⇒ Bush has placed limits on government scientists, hindering medical advances. He has done the same by blocking stem cell research.

Kerry: Supports stem cell research (stem cells are not the same as a living fetus. Stem cells come from embryos, which have no brain or recognizable form, and therefore cannot feel pain), won't let small groups with false facts get in the way of scientific progress, more

Personal freedom

⇒ Bush doesn't trust the American people, so he takes away basic rights. Just wearing a non-threatening, non-offensive, non-Bush-related t-shirt got these people removed from one of Bush's speeches.

⇒ Even some of Bush's supporters haven't been allowed into his speeches. As a result, some of his former supporters, like this one, decided to change their vote.

⇒ One Bush supporter at a speech got thrown out for no reason, charged with a felony, and forced to spend the night in jail. With this much paranoia from Bush, no American's basic rights are safe.

Kerry: Firmly against sacrificing the basic rights of Americans, and isn't so paranoid that he only does two interviews with major news sources ("Meet the Press" and "Larry King Live". His only other noticeable American interviews in the past six months were with "The O'Reilly Factor" and "Christianity Today Magazine").

There are more issues I could touch on (veterans, education, environment, etc.), and if enough people ask, I'll post requested issues in the Crapalog.

Kerry will tell you what you want to hear. he is a phony, anyone who votes for him has some sort of mental illness, or maybe is just a victim of the liberal propaganda machine. Kerry wil take this country down to new lows! vote Bus
